Youth Baseball Bat Size Chart
Here is a handy youth baseball bat size chart by Louisville Slugger to help you in determing the right, best youth baseball bat to purchase. Be sure and consider the drop of the bat.
The Drop is the difference between the length and weight of the youth baseball bat. A youth baseball bat with a higher drop(-10) usually will cost more than one with a lower drop(-7), however it will be lighter and usually more easy to swing. This should result in more bat speed and more contact and harder hit balls from our youth baseball players

Don’t understand what the drops mean or relation to the bat .Could you please explain.Thank you ,Steve Rothwell
Drop is the difference between the length and weight of the baseball bat.
Examples A 28 inch 16 oz. bat has a drop of -12
A 29 inch 17 oz. bat has a drop of -12
A 29 inch 19 oz. bat has a drop of -10
and so on..
P.S High School players must use a bat of at least a -3 drop
An example of this would be a 31 inch 28 oz
i’m the mother a a 10 year old who plays competetive baseball. heard someone mention something about a big barrel 2 5/8 inch with a drop greater than -10 bat. can’t find anything online. is there even such a thing. everything i’ve looked at is 2 5/8 inch with drop-10 or less or 2 1/4 with greater than -10 but no 2 5/8 with higher than drop -10. would appreciate any help. thanx.
The only big barrel bats we can find with a drop greater than -10 is the coach pitch bats

As players get older (high school) they must use a -3 drop
The idea is to phase them from -10 to -8 -5 etc.
But no ..there is not a big barrel youth baseball bat with a drop greater than -10 unless for coach pitch..8 and under
